HARVEST OF JOY AND GOD’S LOVE(Mt 8:5-11; Douay-Rheims Bible). Monday, November 28, 2022.

BR. Patrick.

“And when Jesus had entered into Capharnaum, there came to Him a centurion, beseeching Him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, and is grieviously tormented. And Jesus saith to him: I will come and heal him. And the centurion making answer, said: Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof: but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed. For I also am a man subject to authority, having under me soldiers; and I say to this, Go, and he goeth, and to another, Come, and he cometh, and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. And Jesus hearing this, marvelled; and said to them that followed Him: Amen I say to you, I have not found so great faith in Israel. And I say to you that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven:”

‭‭ My dearest beloved brethren, the centurion was an officer of the imperial army, a man with power and status. He was begging a favor from a penniless itinerant teacher, and declaring himself unworthy even to entertain Jesus in his house. Jesus was amazed, not merely at the trust of the man, but at the fact that the Centurion’s love for his servant led him to cut through all the barriers of rank and race.

Lord, so much of our lives is structured by social conventions and barriers. Please Lord, give us the grace to listen to our hearts and reach out to those that we can help, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

The Word of God is power itself. It’s so powerful that no matter where and when it’s spoken, it can move anything and everything. May the Word of God alone that you speak all the time, move the world and help give peace to everyone, dear faithful children of God.

This miracle in today’s Bible reading, is unusual for two reasons. Jesus was not actually present when the healing of the Centurion’s servant took place: Jesus spoke the Word, and the centurion’s servant was healed.

The servant did not even have to hear Jesus speak the Word: it was enough that the Word was spoken. Do we realize that when we speak God’s word, someone, somewhere, may find healing?

This miracle reminds us of the all-embracing nature of Christ’s mission, and it warns us not to confuse uniformity with universality.

I pray Lord to grant us the grace of speaking the Word of God all the time and for the Word of God we speak in God’s Name be able to heal people, and provide help to those who have needs, today and everyday of our lives, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth I pray. Amen.

Be courageous and fearless in the Lord; for God is with you. You’re blessed; remain blessed!!!
